This weekend, we travel up the M9 to face University of Stirling in another tough fixture.  

Going into this match, University of Stirling FC lie in 11th position in the Lowland League.  The club lost a lot of players in the summer. Including Broxburn recent signings, Luke Morris and James Russell. But the club added, midfielder Carter Jenkins from Ayr United, right winger Jack Hodge from East Stirling, right back Jay Burns from Queen of The South and attacking midfielder Paul McCafferty joined on a free transfer.  The club is managed by ex-Broxburn player Chris Geddes, who is assisted by Sean Roycroft, who also had a spell at Broxburn. In the clubs last fixture, Stirling University lost 3-2 away to Caledonian Braves on Tuesday night. Finn Moffett and Ben Heal were the scorers for StirlingUniversity.

Stirling are in all green kits, while Broxburn are in their traditional kit, red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. Broxburn make two changes to the side that drew 2-2 with Bo’ness United on Tuesday night. In comes debutant Owen Wardell who joined from Bonnyrigg Rose on loan. Kieran Moyles also starts for Broxburn. They replace departing Callum Heath and Gary Brass.   

On 3 minutes, debutant Owen Wardell is free wide right and is attempted cross deflects for a throw in. Marky Munro picks up from a quick throw and his cross has too much on it and is just beyond Alassan Jones.  

Stirling University create their first chance of the game on 5 minutes. Thomas Vonk flies down the right and finds Finn Moffett, who miss kicks his shot and it trickles of the right-hand post.  

On 9 minutes, Errol Douglas nods on a long ball into the path of Kyle Bell. Bell finds Alassan Jones, whose shot is pushed away by Stirling University keeper Adam Buttigieg. The rebound falls too Owen Wardell whose shot is right at the Stirling University keeper.  

On 14 minutes, a corner by Jay Burns finds Isa Aslanoglu who heads over the bar.   

Good play by Kyle Bell who turns in the middle of the park and drives forward. Bell finds Owen Wardell whose shot was saved by Stirling University keeper Adam Buttigieg.   

On 23 minutes, a Stirling University corner is pushed away by Bob Watt into the path of Jack Hodge who fires way over the bar. Uni have another chance on 31 minutes. Thomas Vonk breaks down the right into the area, but his shot is also way over the bar.  

After a good spell of possession for Broxburn, Alassan Jones picks up from distance and his ambitious effort is over the bar.  

On 35 minutes, Stirling University have a huge chance to take the lead. Euan Walker skins Marky Munro and has only keeper to beat. Bob Watt makes a good save.  

 

A minute later, Kyle Bell plays in Scott McRory Irving whose shot is just wide of target. Been end to end stuff so far.  

On 41 minutes, a shot by Sam Martin has no power and is easily caught by Bob Watt.  

Big chance for Broxburn on 42 minutes. A Scott McRory Irving cross from the left finds Kyle Bell who shoots just wide of target.  

HALF TIME (0-0)  

On 51 minutes, a shot by Finn Moffett is saved by Bob Watt.  

On 53 minutes, Andy Rodden is fouled after taking a high ball down with a good touch. The free kick is taken centrally by Alassan Jones and his effort hits Jack Hodge in the face, we have a stoppage in play as Hodge receives treatment. On 61 minutes, Andy Rodden’s corner finds Errol Douglas who nods it in the direction of Greg Page. Page can’t steady himself and his shot is blocked. On 63 minutes, Andy Rodden finds Owen Wardell in on goal. His shot is palmed wide for the corner. From the resulting corner, Errol Douglas heads over the bar.  

GOAL! Stirling University take the lead. A Finn Moffett cross is cleared as far as Jack Hodge whose shot sends Bob Watt the wrong way and fly’s high into the net.

Big chance for a Stirling University second on 65 minutes. Thomas Vonk beats the offside trap. His shot is saved by the outrushing Broxburn keeper Bob Watt.  

First in referee’s book is Stirling University’s Sam Martin on 65 minutes for a foul.  

GOAL! 2-0 Stirling University. A shot is half cleared as far as Thomas Vonk whose shot finds the right corner. Bob Watt got a hand to it but was beating by the power of the strike.

Andy Rodden is booked on 77 minutes for a hand ball.  

GOAL! Broxburn pull one back. Another great Andy Rodden cross finds substitute Bryan Mwangi who beats the Stirling University to the ball and a brave header finds the net, injuring himself in the process.

 Broxburn push for a late equaliser. They have two quick successive corners that the home side defended well. On 90 minutes, an Errol Douglas thunderous effort smacks the bar bounces down and out, eventually Stirling University clear for another corner. Alassan Jones corner finds Greg Page who shoots over the bar.
