Blackburn came close on 13 minutes but missed the target wide left . The hosts opened the scoring when Andrew Gillen was adjudged to have fouled Richard Hutton inside the box at the bye line . MARTIN LAWRIE stepped up to the spot and fired home high into the net giving Wallace no chance .Broxburn almost equalised when a great ball into the box was met by Greg Binnie but his attempt at goal brought out the best in Craig Saunders in the home goal and the ball was cleared by the defence after his save . Andrew Gillen put a good ball into the box but was just to near the keeper to get any advantage for the visitors . On 25 minutes Player manager Chris Townsley was replaced by Shaun Harrison through injury . Three minutes later the game was level when a corner floated into the box caused mayhem inside the six yard area before ROSS ALLUM turned the ball home . Broxburn had some good pressure after this lifeline and only good defending stopped some chances for the visitors . Broxburn took the lead on 39 minutes when a ball when another good ball in to the box was fired home by DAVID GREENHILL for his third goal of season from three starts this season . Binnie beat Saunders to the ball on the edge of the right hand side of the box but his attempt into the box was cleared for a corner by the home defence . Blackburn should have been on level terms going in at half time when a long ball caught out the Broxburn defence and left Andy McQuillan was clear in on goal but Connor Wallace did brilliantly to come out narrow the angle and make the save before Jordan Wright cleared the ball . Connor Wallace was back in action a minute later when Dominic Kane tried a shot from 18 yards which was well saved . The last chance of the half was to be Broxburn’s when Ross Allum chased a ball through the home defence but a poor touch took the ball through to keeper .
HALF TIME BLACKBURN UTD 1 BROXBURN ATHLETIC 2
The visitors started on the front foot and on 48 minutes a Cammie Ross free kick was headed over by Jordan Wright . They did increase their lead a minute later when CAMERON ROSS got the ball down the right and wether it was a cross or a shot , those who saw it decide , it found it’s way into the top left hand corner of the net . Blackburn were given a lifeline when a penalty was awarded by whom at the time was not clear as the referee consulted with his assistant who did not appear to signal for anything . After it was settled MARTIN LAWRIE stepped up and this time put the ball bottom left to give his side hope . On 66 minutes the hosts were almost level when Martin Lawrie made a good run and fired a shot just wide of the right hand post through a crowded box . Blackburn were going for the equaliser and on 68 minutes Kieran Sweeney saw a good effort saved by Wallace . Joe tait made good room for a shot but was unlucky to see his shot go wide right . Jordan Wright won the ball in midfield before striding forward and saw his shot go over the bar from 25 yards out . The visitors game themselves breathing space on 82 minutes when great one two’s carved open the home defence leaving CAMERON ROSS in on goal and he made no mistake from 12 yards . With the game petering out the fuse was lit with five minutes left when challenges between Lennon Smith and Gordon Donaldson sparked a melee that saw Donaldson and Lennon sent off with Townsley also shown a red and Wallace and Saunders receiving yellow cards . There were some lucky guts out there .With three minutes left Ross had a good run and shot saved . Then in in the final minute two goal home hero Martin Lawrie saw red after receiving a straight red for bringing down Cammie Ross as he made his way goal wards .
Lots of talking points from this one with both camps providing good and bad points to the derby match . Once the dust has settled a good three points for the visitors and will look to continue the good run into Wednesday’s game at home to Hill of Beath in the Premier League with a 7-30pm kick off .
