Broxburn Athletic vs Luncarty

It was our second home game on the trot in the EOSFL Premier League, with Perthshire based Luncarty the visitors.

Luncarty lie second bottom of the East of Scotland, winning only 3 games of the 16 games they have played so far. In their last game, they beat Haddington Athletic at home, 1-0 last weekend.

Broxburn make 2 changes to the side that drew with Musselburgh Athletic last weekend. In come Callum Heath & Conor Thomson who replace Kieran Moyles & Callum Bremner.

Broxburn Athletic are in their traditional strips. Red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. They are playing a 4-4-2 formation.

Luncarty are in Yellow & black strips, black shorts and yellow socks. They start with a 4-3-3 formation.

First chance comes for the hosts on two minutes, Nick Locke’s shot is well saved by Luncarty keeper Matthew Curtis.

GOAL! Broxburn take the lead, Ali Jones shot from distance is saved by Luncarty keeper Curtis, on the rebound, Conor Thomson’s effort is parried and on the rebound Errol Douglas heads home for 1-0

A Dummy by Nick Locke finds Errol Douglas. Douglas takes a great first touch but shoots over the bar.

On the 15th minute, a long ball forward finds Errol Douglas who gets in behind the Luncarty defender. His shot is well saved by Luncarty keeper Matthew Curtis.

First chance for Luncarty comes on 16 minutes. Aaron Carlon latches on to a long ball and uses his pace to get away from Broxburn’s Stevie Anderson. His shot is saved by Broxburn keeper Bob Watt.

Big chance for a Broxburn second on 19 minutes. Marky Munro is played in by Nick Locke. Munro delivers a low cross that was begging for contact, but it was missed by everyone, and it went for a Luncarty goal kick.

On 21 minutes, Marky Munro is fouled in the box and referee Donaldson has no hesitation and points to the spot. Up steps top goalscorer Errol Douglas whose penalty is saved by Luncarty keeper Matthew Curtis.

A free kick by Luncarty’s Gregor Donald is saved by Bob Watt.

On 24 minutes, a good cross by Ali Jones is forced in by veteran Broxburn defender Stevie Anderson. A late flag goes up on the far

side. Referee Donaldson goes over to discuss it with the linesman and its eventually ruled out.

On 27 minutes, Marky Munro gets to the corner flag and riffles a cross/shot goalwards and Luncarty keeper Matthew Curtis punches clear.

A corner by Conor Thomson is headed over by Steven Anderson on 28 minutes.

Ball into the box is won by Gary Brass who heads it to Errol Douglas. Douglas takes it on his chest and shoots over the bar.

GOAL! Conor Thomson delivers a great cross from a corner that finds Nick Locke. Locke heads home for a second for Broxburn.

On 73 minutes, Ali Jones corner finds Steven Anderson, who’s glancing header hits the bar. A minute later, a Ross Nimmo header is going in the bottom corner, but Luncarty defender Gregor Donald clears of the line.

GOAL! Goal of the game and it’s that man again Ali Jones. Ball comes out to him; he takes a good touch to set himself up and buried it into the top left corner. What a goal and 2 goals in 2 games for Jones.
