Dalkeith Thistle are in all black strips. Broxburn Athletic debut their new home strips tonight. Red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. Broxburn name the same side that defeated Cowdenbeath 4-0 at Albyn Park last Saturday in the Lowland League.
The home side are the first to threaten in the 2nd minute. A corner from the right, taken by Ross Aithison has too much on it and goes out for a goal kick. Broxburn had to defend two consecutive Dalkeith corners, two minutes later. Aithison takes it again and Jonathan Page takes no chances and concedes for Dalkeith’s third corner. The third corner finds Callaghan but at the back post, but his header is easily caught by Broxburn keeper Bob Watt. On 8 minutes, a Darren McTernan shot is way over the bar for Dalkeith Thistle.
GOAL! Broxburn take the lead. Kyle Bell’s through ball finds Owen Wardell wide right. Wardell’s cross from the right finds Errol Douglas who pokes home at the back post.

On 17 minutes, an Andy Rodden powerful strike from distance is saved by Dalkeith keeper Jamie Newman. On 21 minutes, Errol Douglas breaks down the right flank. His cross is half cleared by Dalkeith, but only as far as Andy Rodden, whose powerful shot deflects of Greig Callaghan for the corner. On 24 minutes, an Owen Wardell cross from the right finds Errol Douglas, whose header is saved by Dalkeith keeper Jamie Newman.
First in the referee’s book is Dalkeith’s Charlie Cameron for a late challenge on Andy Rodden on 25 minutes. Scott McRory Irving’s shot from the resulting free kick, is way over the bar.
On 35 minutes, a Scott-McRory Irving corner from the left finds Broxburn defender Greg Page at the back post. His shot hits the side netting. On 37 minutes, Kyle Bell’s through ball finds Alassan Jones, who puts his effort just over the bar.
Next in the book is Dalkeith’s captain Greig Callaghan for a foul on Owen Wardell on 43 minutes.

Dalkeith have huge claims for a penalty on 50 minutes. A cross from the left from Michael Gould looks to come of the hand of Andy Rodden, but the referee waves play on. A minute later, a shot by Michael Gould is saved, and on the rebound Lewis Russell goes down under the challenge from Jonathan Page. Referee Lee books Russell for simulation.

Broxburn have dominated possession in the last ten minutes. On 61 minutes, Owen Wardell’s teasing cross is headed over by Errol Douglas. On 63 minutes, a long ball forward by Jonathan Page finds Alassan Jones who is in on the left, he picks out overlapping left back Andy Rodden, whose shot is deflects for the corner. The resulting corner taken by Alassan Jones finds Jonathan Page who heads over. On 71 minutes, Owen Wardell has a shot that is blocked, and the deflection comes out too Luke Morris, his cross is headed for a corner by Dalkeith’s Ross Aithison. The resulting corner is well defended by Dalkeith. A Luke Morris effort from distance is just wide of target. On 73 minutes Alassan Jones has a toe poke wide of the right-hand post.
Huge chance for a Broxburn second. Owen Wardell’s flies down the right and he does well to cut it back to Nick Locke. Locke’s shot is saved by Dalkeith keeper Jamie Newman, the rebound falls too Errol Douglas whose shot is blocked by Dalkeith captain Greig Callaghan.
