A minutes silence was respectfully observed before the game in memory of past president and honary president George Black who passed away last week .
The early exchanges of this match produced little or none opportunities for either side . The first half chance fell to the hosts when Sean O’Neill got to the byeline but his cut back hit the side netting .On sixteen minutes Kieron Anderson forced a finger tip save over the bar from a free kick 30 yards out .Two minutes later Ross Nimmo made a great run down the right but his ball into the box was cut out by the retreating Kelty defence .The turning point of the game came after 20 minutes when A free kick to Broxburn was apparently not being taken from the right spot according to the assistant . As grant Gavin rolled the ball to the place he was told to take it from Sean O’Neill pounced and ran in on goals from the right Connor Wallace came out his box and collided with the player and was ordered off for preventing a goal scoring opportunity .Kieron Anderson made way for Shaun Donoghue to come on and keep goal . His first job was to save from the free kick which he did comfortably . Just after the half hour mark Garry Leighton put a good ball into the box but Donoghue saved well before O’Neill had the chance to get there .At the other end Ross Nimmo broke down the right but his ball into the box was defended well by the defence and the chance was gone . Alexander Miller had a couple of chances in the next few minutes first shooting past the post narrowly on the left hand side from the right then shooting past the right hand post from the left hand side .The hosts took the lead against the run of play when another long ball into the box found JORDYN SHEERIN clear eight yards out and he scored as he lost his balance on shooting .In the last minute Nimmo was thwarted at the second attempt as he tried to get the ball into the net .In the last minute of the half Archie Campbell got down the left but when he cut the ball across the box there were no takers .
At the start of the second half Campbell put a great ball into the box and Sheerin headed just over the bar . On 52 minutes Nicholas Locke broke clear and was fouled as he passed to Miller who’s run was impeded in the box but instead of a penalty the referee brought it back to the original foul on Locke .The resulting free kick was knocked out for a corner .When the corner was played in Gavin knocked the ball out to Craig Scott who sent the central defender through on goals and the big defender sent the ball over the bar . Just after the hour mark a corner played in to the bag post found Paterson who headed down at the post and Marley in the goals was managed to smother the ball and the chance was gone .A minute later at the other end O’Neill headed over the bar .Nicholas Locke went on a run forward
and was brought down by Leighton again .Moving into the final quarter of the match and a Nicholas locke free kick took a slight deflection on its way through to the Kelty keeper . Sheerin shot wildly over from twenty yards on 68 minutes . The second goal did come on 75 minutes when Leighton squared the ball to STEPHEN HUSBAND twelve yards out and he fired low into the bottom right hand corner .Broxburn still tried to get back in the game and Gribben fired a long ball through cross field for Locke to chase but Kyle Marley who had raced out his goals got there first and cleared for a throw in .Any chance Broxburn getting back into the game evaporated in the red mist with five minutes left . After a melee after a foul by Grant Gavin foul on Greig two players were yellow carded including Darren Gribben’s who the said something to the referee and she issued a straight red card for his comments .The game petered out after that and the players of Broxburn felt gutted their effort’s were not rewarded with something out of the game .All put in a shift and could have done no more .Next week home to Camelon and a chance to get back on the winning trail .
