Broxburn faced a tough task to progress to the Quarter final of the DJ Laing East of Scotland cup .Broxburn took the game to their visitors in the first minute when Anderson got down the left and crossed into the box but the defence turned it by for a corner .From the corner Gavin headed over the bar .Broughty had a good attack down the left and when played into Daniel Cavanagh he shot over the bar . On thirteen minutes Ross Nimmo dispossessed the brought defender and was through one on one with the keeper but Iain Ross came out to save at his feet and clear the ball up the park .Broughty went on the counter attack and Stewart McConachie saw his shot saved by Connor Wallace and cleared by Baptie . Nicholas Locke ended great play when sent through on goals but Ross again saved the visitors blushes . Broxburn continued to press and were creating chances . At the other end Jamie Winter headed over from a corner The same player on 28 minutes headed over again from another corner . Broxburn opened the scoring right after when NICHOLAS LOCKE was sent through on goals with everyone looking for a pass wide right to available Nimmo Nick looked up and fired into the bottom left hand corner to give his side the lead . Five minutes later a corner into the brought box was scrambled away from the danger area .On the counter attack again Broughty came close when Grant Lawson saw his shot well saved .Broughty were coming more into the game and Cavanagh made Wallace tip his free kick over the bar from 25 yards out .With half time approaching good play by the visitors down the right a ball into the box found Winters who saw Wallace turn his shot round the post .The continued pressure from the visitors paid off a minute before half time when a ball in to the box was not cleared properly and when Roy passed to STEWART McCONACHIE who fired home the equaliser .On the stroke of half time Kieron anderson set up Alexander Miller who saw his shot well saved .
The first chance after the break fell to Ryan Blair but he shot into the side netting . Just before the hour mark Locke saw a shot go just over .Broxburn had a spate of corners round the hour mark but could not produce a finish . They did take the lead a minute later when a hand ball was hotly disputed by the Broughty defence as it was the assistant who gave the penalty as the referee did not see the hand ball .(check facebook for cracking picture of the handball courtesy of Ian Cunningham ). ROSS NIMMO stepped up and hit the back of the net confidently . .Roy caused Wallace a problem when he got to the bye line and put a ball across the box which the keeper dropped but turned quickly to get the ball at the second attempt . Half way through the half Anderson fired in a free kick just wide right of the post . Ross had two great saves from Anderson and Locke before Wallace turned a Roy shot round the post at the other end .With quarter of an hour left JAMIE WINTER scored an equaliser after outrunning the defence to fire home . .The winning goal came with nine minutes left and was full of quality as Scott Richards passed the ball forward to the front line Locke and Miller combined to dummy the ball and the defence to allow KIERON ANDERSON a clear run on goal and he scored from 18 yards out .Broxburn were on top again and chances were created before the final whistle but no more scoring .

KIRRIEMUIR took the game to their Superleague opponents from the off and after four minutes Darren Scott made a great run down the right and into the box where he saw his shot saved and Craig Purves was on hand to mop up and concede the corner . A minute later they did open the scoring when the pacey Scott got down the left and cut the ball back to STEWART RUSSELL on the edge of the box and he fired home into the bottom corner .At the other end two minutes later Sean Diamond made a double save first from Nimmo then from Miller to keep his side in front .The equaliser did come on eleven minutes when Nimmo sent Gribben down the left and a great ball into the box was met by ALEXANDER MILLER who made no mistake .This spurred the visitors on and two minutes later Broxburn took the lead in similar fashion as Gribben sent Captain Locke down the left and his ball cut across the box was again met by ALEXANDER MILLER who was clinical in his finish . The visitors were in charge and two minutes later Miller saw a shot just go over the bar when sent through on goal. A minute later Nimmo was through on goal and the keeper saved at the wingers feet . Half way through the half and Locke set up Ross Nimmo who saw the keeper save his attempt . Two minutes later Broxburn were to rue those missed chances as Kirrie Thistle drew level .A free kick out wide left was floated into the box and BRYAN DUELL rose to head home unchallenged to level the scores .Duell almost gave his side the lead when he shot after twisting his body, but saw his shot shave the left hand post . A corner by Gribben with six minutes to go of the half found Miller who saw his shot curl agonisingly just wide of the right upright with the keeper beaten .
Broxburn regained the advantage on 57 minutes when a crude foul on Nimmo set up a chance from a free kick just outside the box slightly wide right of centre .DARREN GRIBBEN stepped up to take the kick and fired into the top corner an unstoppable shot to the delight of his team mates . The hosts were not out of it and a quick free kick produced an opportunity but Wallace saved the shot . Just after the hour mark Darren Scott thought he had scored but Connor Wallace produced the save of the game tipping the ball over the bar .Miller had a chance when through on goal on 70 minutes but good defending thwarted the chance . The game was all square on 76 minutes a free kick into the box ,from wide left, was headed on to the right hand side of the box then headed back into the box where BRYAN DUELL made no mistake to equalise .The hosts had a couple of more chances to win the match first when Scott Drumm headed over from a corner and then Duell saw his hat trick attempt turned round the post for a corner . With no more scoring it was down to the dreaded penalty shoot out . Broxburn Went first through Alexander miller but shot over the bar .Darren Scott was next for the hosts and his shot towards the bottom corner was saved well by Connor Wallace ,Ross Nimmo was next to take a spot kick and he made no mistake . Adam O’Connor levelled when hitting the back of the net . .Darren Cole stuck the next penalty away confidently ,Blair Mudie was next for the hosts and he sent the ball past the left hand post . Darren Gribben fired home his kick followed by Darren Duell of Kirrie . Craig Purves stepped up to win the tie for “The Burn ” but saw his shot saved .John Farquharson scored for the hosts to take it to sudden death .Craig Scott made no mistake from the spot leaving substitute Derek Paterson to keep his side in the cup but saw his shot saved by Connor Wallace . An entertaining game with goals galore just glad to get past a difficult tie and into the third round .

Dundee Violet stunned their host by going three up in the first half hour of this tie . Right from the kick off however it was Ross Nimmo with a run down the right and cut in saw his shot go over the bar .On three minutes Nicholas Locke and Alexander Miller set up a chance for the later but saw his attempt turned round the post for a corner .Kieron Anderson was sent through on goal on five minutes but shot over the bar . With ten minutes gone a Ryan Dignan attempt almost caught out Wallace as he bundled the ball away for a corner .With thirteen minutes gone Alexander Miller hit the inside of the right hand post and the ball screwed away across the front of the goals and went out almost at the left hand corner flag . The Violet made them pay two minutes later when a throw in into the box about 2 yards out was head knocked on and BEN MIDDLETON scored easily in front of the empty net . Half way through the half they doubled their lead when a move down the left saw GAVIN HOOD clear in on goal and he knocked it past the advancing keeper .Stunned Broxburn went further behind when on the half hour mark they broke down the right and a ball went past everyone and landed at GEORGE DUNCAN who put it away into the bottom left hand corner .It did not look good for the home side but within a minute a good build up saw Alexander Miller having a shot that was saved and broke to ROSS NIMMO who scored from an angle on the right . Broxburn should have cut the deficit to one before half time when Anderson and Nimmo set up Locke who shot over .
Three minutes into the second half and Anderson was through on goal again but again shot over the bar .With fifty eight minutes gone A corner in from the left was met by MARCUS MILLER to head his first goal for the club at the back post .A minute later the home side were level when KIERON ANDERSON found himself through on goal again but this time showed composure to find the back of the net .An hour gone and a McNaughton effort was deflected away for a corner . The hosts took the lead on 68 minutes when Nimmo broke down the right and gave a great ball inside to ALEXANDER MILLER who scored easily .McNaughton had an effort cleared off the line two minutes later . Alexander Miller and Ross Nimmo had good chances to increase the lead but saw their efforts saved and go over the bar .Only three minutes left and Broxburn sealed the win when they broke away with Nimmo who passed to ALEXANDER MILLER and the big striker scored easily . Good spirit to come back from three down but need to improve if points are to be taken from our visit to Bonnyrigg Rose next week .
