Attendance 126

Another cold afternoon as games being abandoned around the region because of snow , no adverse weather at the Albyn . Paul Simpson was the first to try for goal after only 2 minutes but his shot went wide of the target . A minute late Ross Allum at the other end tried an ambitious shot from 30 yards that went wide left of the visitors goals . Gary Fergus should have done better on 6 minutes when through one on one with Connor Wallace but the keeper came out on top with a good save . The visitors took the lead a minute later when a ball played across the six yard box from the right found DAYLE ROBERTSON unmarked at the back post with the easiest of tasks to turn the ball into the net . It was to get worse on 15  minutes when Daniel Nimmo fouled the forward in the box and gave away a penalty . DAYLE ROBERTSON stepped up and fired home from the spot . Good pressure on 18 minutes from the home side ended when Player Manager Chris Townsley lobbed the ball goal ward but the keeper managed to clutch it at full stretch . Craig Newal made Dalton work in the visitors goal with his cross dipping under the bar he tipped it over for a corner . Four minutes later on 36 minutes the visitors increased their lead when when Christopher Scott put a ball over from the left and the home defence did not pick up CHRISTOPHER DODD who turned the ball home unchallenged . They almost made it four two minutes later when Christopher Scott fired in a free kick that Wallace saved before being turned behind for a corner .

Three minutes into the second half it could have been four but the Jeanfield forward was crowded out and the danger was cleared .  Broxburn got back in the game on 51 minutes when great play out of defence was followed by a long through ball that GREG BINNIE out muscled the defender before  slotting the ball home . The same player should have done better six minutes later when a great ball across the box land at Binnie 6 yards out and with everyone expecting the net to bulge he some how scooped it over the bar .Just after the hour mark Gary Fergus had a golden opportunity to score but he headed , over under no pressure . Broxburn were pressing hard and were rewarded with sustained pressure when a ball into the six yard box produced a scramble before DANIEL NIMMO up for a corner was there to prod the ball over the line .  A good ball in from the left found Fergus who’s shot was well saved by Wallace before his defence cleared the ball up the park .  Ross Allum almost equalised but his shot was well saved by Dalton before the defence cleared the ball away from the danger area . Broxburn pressed for the equaliser but to no avail and Jeanfield went back to Perth with the three points .

The home side took the initiative from the kick off and Mitchel Taylor was allowed to run at the defence before seeing his shot at goal deflected for a corner by Craig Newall .Darren Gribben sent a good ball in from the left  but his team mate sent his attempt just wide right of the target . A free kick into the box by Greenhill was met by the challenge of the keeper and Gary Brass who was adjudged to have fouled the keeper . On 17 minutes a corner to the back post was headed back in to the danger area by Wright but Andrew Gillen shot over the bar from six yards out . The home side opened the scoring on 25 minutes when a good move ended up with MICHAEL TAYLOR who turned Adam Murray before firing past Connor Wallace . Just after the half hour mark Darren Gribben forced a save from Wallace . The home side doubled their  advantage on 33 minutes when Jackson Cowan lofted a ball into the box and Connor Wallace came to claim it it somehow slipped through his hands and fell at the feet of MITCHELL TAYLOR who had the easiest tasks to stroke the ball into the unguarded net .  A minute later a corner in to the visitors box found the feet of on fire Taylor but this time his shot did not trouble Wallace who gathered easily .. With the first half coming to a close Gary Brass saw a good header well saved . Jordan Wright saw an effort from an incoming corner go just over the bar .

Darren Gribben was the first to try for goals in the second have on 47 minutes but Wallace saved comfortably in the end . Taylor was going for his hat trick when he fired a shot from 18 yards that Wallace saved and gathered at second attempt . Ross Allum had a chance on 61 minutes but couldn’t get the bouncing ball under control to get a proper shot away . With light fading the floodlights were switched on in 66 mins not only did this switch the lights on it switched the visitors on too as 2 minutes later a Greenhill corner in from the left was met by the unmarked GORDON DONALDSON who headed home . The visitors were on level terms 3 minutes later when a corner into the box was cleared out to half way where Tom Cowley sent the ball straight back into the box where Mark Sharp half cleared the ball to Jordan Wright who headed down to GARY BRASS who fired home into the bottom left hand corner with Jakub Welna  in the home goal no where . Broxburn almost took the lead when Ross Nimmo fired a ball across the box but was agonisingly to much in front of Binnie running in on goal . A good run by Aidan Mclduff sent the ball out to Lewis McArthur who’s ball into the box was stopped by Murray and cleared by Greenhill .  . At the other end a throw in to Gary Brass saw the forwards attempt deflect for a corner just past the right post . Deep into injury time a timely tackle at one end saw the visitors break to the other with four attackers charging down the home defence Ross Nimmo got the ball on the right and fired a ball low across the box where this time GREG BINNIE timed his run to perfection to score the winner from six yards out to the delight of the Broxburn Contingent .

In the end a great fight back and showed the spirit that is in this squad . Nobody would have gave an earthly of them taking anything from the game at half time . The fact at  2-2 and deep into the long injury time added on we had four forwards chasing forward looking for a winner speaks volumes for them all . Next week we have a Challenge cup tie at Blantyre Vics  Saturday 20th November with a 1-30pm kick off (please note kick off Time ) . Details of admission procedures will be posted when we get them .

BROXBURN ATH V WHITEHILL WELFARE

Attendance 157

In a wet very windy afternoon it was not going to be a day for quality football . The first opportunity came from a Whitehill Welfare free kick which wind assisted was too strong into the box for the visitors forwards and it went past the left hand post from the right hand side .Immediately at the other end , a quick corner on the left saw Ross Allum fire over a cross come shot that sailed past everybody and the right hand post . Greg Binnie should have opened the scoring on 17 minutes when a great ball into the box found him six yards out but his attempt was well saved by Ross Gilpin in the Welfare goals from point blank range . On twenty minutes a shot 25 yards out from Blair Tolmie ricocheted off David Greenhill on the edge of the box and looped up and dropped towards goal Connor Wallace had to tip it over to make sure .  Half way through the half Allum sent Greg Binnie through but the visiting defence crowded him out and cleared the danger . With 38 minutes on the clock  Ross Gilpin launched a long ball and the wind caught it as it bounced in the home 18 yard box and bounced just over the bar .  A minute later a Andrew Gillen shot didn’t trouble Gilpin . In the last minute of the half a great run down the left by Joe Tait saw him cross across the box towards Binnie but Tolmie stepped in front of the forward to head clear .

The  second half started very slowly  and the first opportunity came in 57 minutes when Ross Allum was tripped in the box . ROSS ALLUM stepped up and blasted the ball home from the spot . A couple of minutes later Craig Newall saw a run and shot from 20 yards saved .After the hour mark the home side allowed Ryan Weir go on a run cutting inside towards the 18 yard  box before sending a shot crashing off the cross bar and over for a bye kick .  Gordon Donaldson sent a great free kick into the box from thirty yards out on the right but was just to strong and went wide of the left hand post past the despairing Allum trying to get on the end of it .  Allum was through on68 minutes but Gilpin saved well . A minute later Allum again was thwarted by the heroics of Gilpin yet again . Ross Nimmo on for Joe Tait sent a great shot from the left just wide of the target on the right . Nimmo again on 74 minutes saw a free kick hit the bar and then cleared by Tolmie for a corner . The game was coming to a close but the talking points in the last five minutes plus were a plenty . First Allum saw Gilpin stop him from adding to his goal with a fine save . In injury time Craig Newall was on a run down the right when Bryn Wilson brought him down to stop him and he received a second yellow card after collecting his first for a similar challenge on Ross Nimmo three minutes earlier . In injury time Allum saw a shot from the left come of the base of the left hand post and out for a bye kick .  Their was still time for more when Blair Tolmie got involved with an argument with the referee regarding the taking of a free kick by him not being still ,eventually the referee lost his patience issuing a second yellow card  to the centre half . This sparked a verbal exchanged to the referee from the visiting bench which saw the manager being shown a red card and his assistant a yellow card .

A good three points in awful conditions at times but we take them and move on to prepare for next week away to Camelon in the league with a 2-30pm kick off .

Musselburgh Ath v Broxburn Ath

attendance 265

Broxburn had the first opportunity of the game in three minutes when a ball in to the box was laid off to Joe Tait from Greg Binnie but his shot went well over the bar . A minute later at the other end full back Jordan Orru made a great run before laying off to Mathu King but Shaun Harrison thwarted the danger with a well timed tackle inside the box .  Greg Binnie intercepted a poor ball out of the defence and got to the bye line down the left firing over a cross which was just out of reach of team mate Ross Allum . The visitors suffered a blow on 9 minutes when Daniel Nimmo had to go off after stretching for a ball on the bye line . The opening goal fell to the visitors when a throw in deep on the left found Allum his ball in to the box found Binnie who laid the ball back outside the box for GREG NICOL to fire in to the bottom left hand corner . Musselburgh almost got back on level terms on 17 minutes when a corner in from the left was headed goal ward but the visiting defence cleared of the line before a overhead kick sailed over the bar from a Musselburgh forward . A great ball in from the right by Callum Donaldson was destined for Conor Thomson at the back post , but Andrew Gillen headed behind for the corner before it reached it’s target . Half way through the half a corner played out to Declan O’Kane but he saw his effort crash off the crossbar and over . A minute later at the other end a mix up in the home defence almost let Tait in but he could not take advantage of the opportunity that fell to him .  A free kick just outside the box on the left hand side earned Andre Gillen the first yellow of the game . The free kick in landed at Mathu King but his shot was a soft effort straight into Connor Wallace’s arms . Over half an hour gone and Conor Thomson fired in a shot that crashed off the crossbar and fell to another home player who saw his effort saved for a corner . The corner in was met by the head of King but siled well over the bar . The same player saw a shot saved comfortably by Wallace on 34 minutes . Almost immediately Musselburgh got on level terms  when BRADLEY WHYTE made a good run into the box before firing past Wallace . On 39 minutes Allum sent Tait through on the right but he pulled his shot wide left of the target .Broxburn should have had a penalty when Allum was blatantly bundled to the ground but for some reason the referee seen nothing wrong . The home side took a half time lead when a good run down the left by BRADLEY WHYTE saw him tackled just inside the box he quickly recovered and shot past the advancing Wallace .

Into the second half and Dean ballantyne out muscled Harrison before firing a shot that was well saved by Wallace .  Greg Binnie layed off to Allum on 52 minutes  who tried to lob the keeper but having done that his effort came off the cross bar and was cleared from the area . Whyte was through on goal on 53 minutes looking for his hat trick but Wallace saved well . Andy Mair saw a 20 yard effort saved on 55minutes . The visitors should have been on level terms when great play down the right saw a ball played to the lonely Ross Allum with clear goals he blasted over the bar from 12 yards out . Broxburn were pressing for the equaliser and the home defence was remaining resolute  . With five minutes remaining Ross Allum tried to glance a header into the net  but Ross McRae saved easily .  A free kick 25 yards out on the left was sent into the six yard box by David Greenhill but with a line of Broxburn forwards in there none could turn the ball home .  A minute later Newall fired a shot over the bar from just inside the box .  With Broxburn pressing for an equaliser a quick counter attack saw AARON MURREL run clear into the opponents half with Connor Wallace coming thirty five yards out his box to retrieve the ball both players missed each other and The Musselburgh sub regained his composure to roll the the ball into undefended goal for a 3-1 win with the last kick of the ball . Not a good day with chances a plenty to win many a game . Need to regroup and prepare well for Whitehill Welfare at home next Saturday

A free kick from Shaun Harrison from the left hand side 25 yards out , early doors , tested the keeper but Ruairidh Adams handled it well in the visitors goal .A great ball from Binnie across field was just out of reach of Joe Tait at the back post . A minute later Kenny O’Brien was clear and should have done better for HVLT but shot wildly over . The opening goal came on fourteen minutes when a ball into the box was fired off the cross bar from ten yards by GREG BINNIE but he was first to react to head the rebound home . The home side doubled their lead in 20 minutes when a great move started by GREG BINNIE and finished by him saw him lob a pass to Andrew Mair who with his back to goal overhead kicked a pass into the left hand side of the box to BINNIE to rush in and fire home giving the keeper no chance . The visitors got back into the game on 25 minutes when a ball in from the left saw KENNY O’BRIEN unmarked in the middle of the box to head home . Binnie was denied his hat trick when a lobbed ball goalward was save at full stretch by Adams ,

The start of the second half saw Adams make another good save and when it broke to Tait he fired wildly over the bar . Tait tested the keeper on the hour mark after a great run with the ball . A minute later a ball into the box to Brass saw the big striker crowded out as the ball would not fall kindly for him . The visitors got on level terms soon after when a foul  25 yards out on the left hand touch line resulted in NIALLI KEMP sending the free kick in to the top left corner .

Ross Allum was sent through by Ross Nimmo but the forward shot high and wide .  The visitors took the lead when good move down the left saw Thomas Penker received the ball from Douglas to send to the back post where it was headed back and across the six yard box and ERROL DOUGLAS was all alone to head into the empty net .  Broxburn were now throwing everything at the visitors and Greg Nicol saw a shot saved for a corner after a scramble in the box .  Jordan Wright went on a good run down the left into the box but his cut back was cut out by the keeper . Ross Nimmo sent a ball into the box for Craig Newal but the keeper saved his shot . Going into injury time Broxburn won a corner on the right and a great ball in saw SHAUN HARRISON head high into the net from eight yards to give his side a leveller . There was one more chance from the home side as Ross Allum was through on goal on the left hand side of the box and with the angle decreasing with every stride he shot past the keeper but a defender got behind him and somehow cleared it off the line .

After being so much in control to be struggling to take anything then should have gone on to win , what a roller coaster match for the home side . The next two weeks see’s a break from league action with cup ties away to Berwick Rangers and Newburgh .

Broxburn Showed their intent to get back to winning ways as early as the first minute when a free kick into the box was headed over by Gary Brass . A ball in from a corner was played back across the six yard box but there were no takers for the home side . The opening goal came on 14 minutes when a ball out quickly from Donoghue to Harrison was played long GREG BINNIE shrugged of the attention of the defender and got in to the box to fire past Neil Mitchell in the visitors goal . Gary Brass tested the keeper on 18 minutes as he scrambled to gather the ball after stopping it . Craig Newall saw a shot saved for a corner by Mitchell . The corner in fell to GARY BRASS who made no mistake from inside the six yard box . Jordan Wright sent Greg Binnie into the box on the left hand side but this time Binnie shot wide right of the target .

The second half first opportunity fell to the visitors when Greig Spence saw his shot saved by Donoghue .A great ball to the back post on 55 minutes saw Binnie fire in a shot that was saved . Tait got on the end of a through ball but the defence closed him down and cleared the danger . Half way through the second half Greg Nicol saw an attempt on goal go over the bar .Ross Nimmo was sent through on goal but the defence held firm and blocked his attempt . The substitute did not have long to wait for his goal . With four minutes left he was in again clear of the defence and unleashed a shot that Neil Mitchell (and everybody else) in the goals thought he had but it slipped through his hands and landed in the back of the net to ROS NIMMO’s delight .The last minute saw the last chance when Ross Allum fired in a shot that Mitchell saved well .

A better performance producing a better result  and hopefully we can kick on now . A satisfactory debut for Daniel Nimmo who had not even seen his team mates until before kick off as we bought him from Linlithgow Rose . We move on to Saturday and the third home game in a row this time to Lothianthistlehutchiesonvale in the league with a 2-30pm kick off .

With visitors from Groundhop uk in attendance this was expected to be a competitive game . Conditions were to put a stop to any good football . The opening chance was created for the home side when Greenhill made a great cross field pass to Tait but his team mate couldn’t get the ball under control and the chance was gone . On five minutes Gary Brass was through on keeper just inside the box , Kyle Marley in the visitors goal saved his first attempt and when the ball rebounded back to Brass he put it over the bar . Stephen Husband sent a free kick deep into the Hosts box but the home defence defended well and cleared the danger . Greg Nicol saw a shot deflected for a corner on 20 minutes . The visitors saw an opportunity go a begging when a ball across the six yard box but no one took advantage of the situation and the ball went out for a throw in . Joe Tait should have done better on the half hour mark when getting on the end of a corner he shot weekly straight at the keeper .A couple of minutes later from another corner Andrew Gillan shot over the bar . With four minutes left Shaun Donoghue came to his side’s rescue with a great save from Christopher Gay .

Dundonald had the wind the second half and Donoghue was called into action when he produced a great save from a shot from Stephen Husband from just inside the box on the left hand side . With 57 minutes on the clock a square ball just outside the box found Husband unmarked but he pulled his shot wide of the target . Jack Smith had a good run cutting inside from the left before shooting wide right .The visitors took the lead on 61 minutes when ELLIOT FORD picked up on a poor clearance before turning in the box and firing home . The game was short of opportunities and this was to be the winner . Disappointing after first half chances to have nothing to show  need to take our chances when on top . We regroup and prepare for the visit of Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts on Wednesday night  .

Sauchie v Broxburn Ath

Attendance 130

Broxburn were the first to try and open the scoring with David Greenhill testing Charles Clark in the home goal on 2 minutes . A blow to Broxburn came in 5 minutes when Connor Wallace had to be replaced by Shaun Donoghue on 5 minutes when he injured himself attempting to clear the ball . Sauchie came close on nine minutes when Syme passed inside to Kelly who shot past the post from close . The opening goal came for the hosts when a poor pass back was intercepted and after good play BRIAN MORGAN managed to force the ball home at the left hand post .Broxburn fought back and three minutes later Gary Brass managed to get a control on a long ball but shot weakly past the post . Sauchie had a succession of corners on the 20 minutes but the visiting defence cleared all attempts .Ross Hutchison saw a thirty yard shot go just over the bar . Brass so a good turn and shot blocked by the defence . With five minutes of the half left Daniel Smith saw his deflected shot saved well by Shaun Donoghue .

Broxburn went on the attack from the off and Greg Binnie went down the right and his ball into the box was met by the head of Ross Allum but Clark saved well .The hosts had some sustained pressure which finished when Kris Kelly shot harmlessly wide . Sauchie increased their lead on 55 minutes when good play out to the right found Kris Kelly who fired in a cross to the back of the six yard box where MARK FINLAYSON ghosted in at the back of Newall and his header gave Donoghue no chance .

Broxburn got back in the game when awarded a free kick 20 yards out  GARY BRASS stepped up and fired a low shot under the wall and keeper to give the visitors a lift on 59 minutes . Shaun Donoghue pulled of a great save from Mark Finlayson on 62 minutes . Hutchison sent a ball through to Allum who saw his shot blocked . On 67 minutes Ross Allum made a run into the box and as he was prepared to shoot from a tight angle he was clearly pushed . ROSS ALLUM stepped up and gave Clark no chance from the spot  .

Sauchie regained the lead spectacularly when a Broxburn move broke down in midfield the ball was sent to AIDAN CRACKNELL who cut inside before unleashing a rocket into the top right hand corn from the left hand side , giving Donoghue no chance .  Joe Tait almost got a point for the visitor’s when making a run into the box his shot beat Clark but crashed off the cross bar and the defence cleared the danger .

Disappointing in the end with new additions Andrew Mair and Adam Murray  showing up well not to take anything from the game . We hope to add to the squad soon and hopefully before next week with some players missing hopeful of a return next Sunday when we play Dundonald Bluebell  with a 12-15pm kick off because of groundhop weekend .
