Broxburn Athletic made the long awkward journey to Dumfriesshire to Sanquhar where Nithsdale Wanderer’s play there home games .
Broxburn kicked off with a strong wind at their backs at the open Lorimer park .
Broxburn as expected started well and on 3 minutes a good ball in from Wardell on the right which found Brass who’s header was comfortably clutched by Jamie Kerr in the home goal . The opening goal came not long after on fife minutes when a long ball through from the back saw ERROL DOUGLAS out muscle the home defender before breaking clear and making no mistake from 16 yards out .
On nine minutes a shock equaliser for the hosts came when a ball in from the right saw SEAN McKENZIE shoot which was parried before the big striker second bite saw him fire home .
Broxburn stepped it up with Allassan Jones seeing a fine attempt save by Kerr . It was the home side who almost took the lead on 20 minutes when a McKenzie shot was deflected onto the left hand post before spinning across the goal mouth before Greg Page clearing upfield from danger .
Broxburn got back in front on 23 minutes , when a Rodden ball into the box was contested by Kerr and GARY BRASS with the striker getting the better of the dual before prodding the ball home from close range despite the home side’s protestation’s for a foul on the keeper .
The visitors started to press forward their superiority and on 27 minutes a Greg Page free kick found Brass who quickly put the ball back to OWEN WARDELL who headed home from 6 yards .
A fourth goal was to follow on 33 minutes when a long ball out of defence found ERROL DOUGLAS who flicked the ball around the defender which wrong footed the keeper and found it’s way into the net . SCOTT IRVING made it five with seven minutes of the half remaining when a ball cleared out found him 20 yards out before he fired it home .

The hosts came out the second half determined to get back in the game and on 51 minutes McKenzie tested Robert Watt who saved and gathered at the second attempt to deny the striker .The same player hit the post two minutes later
Broxburn settled any nerves when getting a sixth on 55 minutes , when a ball into the box found ERROL DOUGLAS who controlled well to then fire home for his hat trick . That was to be the last action for the striker as Fionn Kay and Connor Thomson replaced Errol Douglas and Allassan Jones .Two minutes later a Greg Page free kick was heading to the top left hand corner but Jamie Kerr pulled off a remarkable save at the expense of a corner .
The Brox were on seventh heaven on 62 minutes when Gary Brass set up OWEN WARDELL with an easy chance to score his second and Broxburn’s seventh .
Broxburn made a triple substitution on 65 minutes when Downie,Godwin and Russell replaced Bell, Irving and Wardell .
GODWIN KANGI-SOUKPE made it 9-1 on the 78th minute when going on a solo run before firing home into the bottom right corner . The hosts got a second goal with 11 minutes left on the clock when a through ball eluded all and SEAN McKENZIE ran through to score to double his personal and club’s total of goals .
Broxburn Athletic almost made it ten on 80 minutes with Kerr gathering the ball on the line from a last touch by Fionn Kay. Broxburn did get to double figure’s with 8 minutes left with Brass setting up GODWIN KANGI-SOUKPE for his double and his side’s tenth . With two minutes remaining Martin Milne received his second yellow after a crude challenge on Godwin . He received a second red card for comments made after being sent off .
With no more goals it was a professional performance that sees us in the next round . Players got good game time and pleasing to see Fion Kay making the park after long lay off . Cowdenbeath at home next week with points available in this cut throat league .
