Broxburn Athletic take a break from league action this weekend, with the visit of West of Scotland current undefeated league leaders Clydebank in the South Regional Challenge Cup fourth round.

West of Scotland league leaders Clydebank Fc are still undefeated in the 2024/25 season. They have won eight and drawn one of their nine league fixtures. The club are on twenty-five points, four points ahead of second place Johnstone Burgh. The club play their home games at Holm Park, where they groundshare with local side Yoker FC. The club is managed by ex-Albion Rovers and East Stirling player Gordon Moffat. Players to look out for is ex Aberdeen and Dundee midfielder Nicky Low and experienced striker Nicky Miller who is the top scorer and ex Stranraer youth player, Keir Samson. In the clubs last fixture, they drew 0-0 in league action away at Largs Thistle, despite being down to ten men early in the game, with Adam Hodge seeing red in the 13th minute.

Broxburn are in their traditional kits, red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. Visitors Clydebank are in all black and red. Broxburn Athletic make four changes from the team that lost 5-1 to Celtic B last Saturday in the Lowland League. Into the team come, Owen Wardell, Jonathan Page, Marky Munro and Kyle Bell. They replace Conor Thompson, Bryan Mwangi, Joseph Smith and Ruari Ellis.

Broxburn Athletic are first to threaten in the 1st minute. Gary Brass plays in Owen Wardell in on goal.  But the on-loan Bonnyrigg winger is offside.

GOAL! Clydebank have an early lead. Lee Gallacher’s free is headed on in the direction of Liam McGonigle. The Clydebank wingers cross in is parried by Bob Watt, but only as far as Matt Niven who forces his effort over the line for the opening goal of the game.

GOAL! 2-0 to the visitors. A very good goal. Oison McHugh plays a one-two with Liam McGonigle who scores high into the net.

The visitors create another two chances in quick succession. McGonigle flies past Marky Munro and plays in Nicky Little whose effort is just wide. Then, Liam McGonigle takes on Marky Munro again plays in Ciaran Mulcahy, who from a tight angle hits the post.

First in referee’s book is Broxburn Athletic midfielder Scott McRory Irving for a late challenge in the middle of the park on 24 minutes.

After a slow start, Broxburn create a half chance on 28 minutes. Owen Wardell’s dangerous cross from the left is knocked behind for a corner. From the resulting corner taken by Alassan Jones, its eventually is worked to Marky Munro whose shot hits the side netting from a tight angle on the right.

On 35 minutes, Errol Douglas is booked for a late tackle on the right wing. Gary Brass is also booked for his protests.

On 40 minutes, Clydebank come close again. Dean Cairns runs through on goal and shoots just wide of target.

On 41 minutes, Broxburn’s day goes from bad to worse. Gary Brass is shown a second yellow card for a foul on Oison McHugh and Broxburn are reduced to ten men just before half time.

On 43 minutes, Alassan Jones is fouled just outside the box. Jones takes the resulting free kick, and his effort is over the bar.

HALF TIME (2-0 Clydebank)

Next in the referee’s book is Kyle Bell for a foul on 51 minutes.

On 58 minutes, Owen Wardell is played through on goal and his shot hits the bar for the hosts. On 59 minutes, Alassan Jones shot is just wide of target.

GOAL! 3-0 Clydebank. A deep cross from Oison McHugh finds Ciaran Mulcahy whose bullet header nestles into the left corner.

Another chance for Clydebank on 87 minutes. Tiwi Daramola plays in Nicky Low, whose shot is saved by Bob Watt.

On 90 minutes, a long ball finds Broxburn striker Errol Douglas, but Clydebank defender Matt Niven does well to get his body in front of Douglas and win the goal kick.

GOAL! 4-0 Clydebank in injury time. Nicky Little is played in from a long ball by the Bankies right back and cooly slots home.
