Tonight, we head up the M9 to Bo’ness, for a tough away fixture against EOSFL Division Two league leaders Bo’ness Athletic, in the EOSFL Qualifying Cup 4th round.

Top of the table Thistle come into this one in great form. Winning 11 of their 12 games in the league and building up a plus 47 goal difference. On Saturday, they reached the Alex Jack cup final with a 3-0 semi-final victory over Arniston Rangers in Gorebridge.

Bo’ness Athletic reached this stage of the competition with wins over Heriot Watt 3-1 at Newton Park in the second round, and a huge win over local rivals Linlithgow Rose 5-1 away in Round 3.

Broxburn Athletic reached this stage with wins over Peebles Rovers 4-1 back in August in Round 2, and a 2-1 win over Bathgate Thistle in the third round earlier in the month. Both games were at Albyn Park.

Broxburn make two changes from Saturday’s Scottish Cup exit to Buckie Thistle, Liam Campbell and Calum Heath come in for Marcus Millar and Ben Davidson.

Broxburn start with a 4-4-2 diamond and are in their changed kits. Gold and black shirts, black shorts, and black and gold socks.

Bo’ness Athletic are in all blue and start with a 4-4-2 shape.

Bo’ness are the first to threaten in the second minute. Weir plays in the on-loan Stirling winger Kangni Soukpe, who’s shot is saved by Bob Watt and Broxburn get the rebound clear.

Broxburn have their first effort in the third minute. Good build up play by Nick Locke and Calum Heath. It’s worked out to Liam Campbell on the left, who’s shot is pushed away by Bo’ness keeper Currid.

GOAL! Broxburn have an early lead. Brass takes a hold of a long ball to feet and plays it wide to Liam Cambell, the Broxburn left back crosses and finds Calum Heath who slams it high into the net from close range.

GOAL! Bo’ness equalise 3 minutes later. Marky Munro looks to be fouled by Kangni Soukpe. The referee was having none of it and Soukpe is through on goal and scores past Bob Watt into the right corner.

Bo’ness Athletic goal scorer Kangni Soukpe is the first to get booked on 14 minutes for a foul on Liam Campbell on the left wing. Calum Heath takes the free kick and its right at Bo’ness keeper Currid.

Bo’ness Athletic have another chance. Ryan Robertson’s effort from roughly 20 yards is pushed over the bar by Bob Watt for a corner. From the resulting corner Robertson’s cross finds Bo’ness captain Paterson who heads over the bar.

23 minutes in and good play by Callum Bremner who wins possession high up the park. He takes the ball to the byline and crosses a dangerous low ball into the area, but no takers for Broxburn.

Bo’ness come forward with pace. Kangni-Soukpe crosses from the right and finds MacDonald whose shot was blocked by Kieran Moyles.

Another great delivery by Liam Campbell from the left finds Errol Douglas, who’s header is pushed away by Durrid, but the referee blows late for a foul.

GOAL! Bo’ness have the lead. Kangni-Soukpe picks up the loose ball and finds Weir. The Bo’ness forward takes on Kieran Moyles and slots it into the right corner for 2-1 to the hosts. Decent finish.

Calum Heath delivers a great ball into the box; corner is conceded by Bo’ness defender Woodburn.

Slack play by Broxburn again. Bo’ness win possession high up the park. Weir is in on goal and Bob Watt pushed it away from him, letting Broxburn defenders to get back and clear their lines.

Another Bo’ness booking on the 66th minute, this time for captain Paterson for a foul on Liam Campbell. Liam Campbell is then booked two minutes later for a foul.

Kangni-Soukpe is free again on the right. He crosses for Ogilvie whose shot is saved by Watt.

Marky Munro delivers a great cross from the right. Bo’ness captain Paterson concedes the corner. Callum Heath’s corner is only cleared as far as Greg Page. The Broxburn defender’s shot from 20 yards is over the bar.

GOAL! Unbelievable! Broxburn have scored three goals in eight minutes. Callum Bremner looks for Mark Munro who is fouled, but the referee waves advantage. Ross Nimmo picks up and finds Gary Brass, who takes an excellent touch and slams it into the bottom corner to win it in the third minute of extra time for Broxburn.

Broxburn Athletic vs Buckie Thistle

Today was the day we have looked forward to for weeks, the Scottish Cup Third Round fixture against Highland League side Buckie Thistle.

Buckie Thistle come down the road in good form. They lie third in the Highland League after 11 games. Winning 9, drawing 1 and losing 1. In their last fixture, they defeated Wick Academy 5-2 at Victoria Park.

Broxburn Athletic have reached this stage with two wins over Highland league opposition. Beforehand, they beat Dundee based Lochee United at the Albyn 3-0 in the Preliminary Round 2. They then beat Nairn County 2-1 at the Albyn at Round 1 and beat Deveronvale 1-0 in Round 2 up in Banff.

Buckie Thistle beat Tayport 4-0 in Round 1 at The Cannipairt in Fife. They then defeated fellow Highland League side Forres Mechanics 1-0 at Mosset Park in round 2.

Broxburn make 1 change from the team that beat Auchinleck Talbot in the South of Scotland Challenge Cup 4th round last weekend. Captain Nick Locke comes in for Conor Thomson.

A very busy and noisy Albyn Park greets the two sets of players as they emerge from the dressing room.

Broxburn are in their traditional home strips. Red & White shirts, white shorts, and red and white socks and are starting with a 4-3-1-2

Buckie Thistle are in all yellow and playing a 3-5-2 formation.

The visitors are the first to threaten on four minutes. Dale Wood’s shot is right at Bob Watt.

Five minutes in and Broxburn are awarded a free kick on the right. Lewis Turner takes it, and his shot is right at Buckie keeper Stuart Knight. Ball is like a hot tattie in the early stages as both teams seem uncomfortable in possession.

Good through ball by Lewis Turner who finds Errol Douglas, the big man is in on goal, but the stand side linesman put his flag up. Looked onside from our viewpoint. A minute later Lewis Turner is played in, and the same linesman put his flag up. Another close call.

Gary Brass heads down to Nick Locke who has space on the right, but the Broxburn captain miss kicked his shot and Buckie have a goal kick.

On the 17th minute we have the games first booking. Buckie’s Scott Adams see’s yellow for a foul on Lewis Turner.

Buckie have a free kick in a central position. Lewis Mackinnon takes it, and it hits the wall. Referee Soutar gives a foul as he judges it hits the arm of Lewis Turner. He books the Broxburn midfielder. The resulting free kick hits the wall again and Broxburn clear.

RED CARD! On the 23rd minute. Buckie are reduced to ten men. Scott Adams gets a second yellow for another foul on Lewis Turner after receiving his first booking only five minutes earlier.

Chance for Buckie. Jack Maciver’s shot is saved by Broxburn keeper Bob Watt. Marky Munro gets down the byline over on the right. He delivers an excellent cross but no one in a Broxburn shirt gambled and Buckie had a goal kick.

Buckie still look comfortable with the ten men. Still having a lot of the ball. Josh Peters finds Max Perry who shoots way over the bar for the visitors.

Lewis Turner has an effort from over on the right that lands on top of the net.

Best chance of the match so far comes on 44 minutes for Buckie. Jack Murray wins a header at the back post and his effort is just wide.

Marky Munro is free again down the right, His cross in is behind Errol Douglas. The big man gets something on the ball, it goes high in the air and is caught by Buckie keeper Stuart Knight.

The half time whistle is blown and as the players and coaches leave the park, referee Soutar shows a red card to Broxburn coach Billy McPhee for an altercation with the Buckie coach.

Broxburn are the first to threaten in the second half. Marky Munro’s cross deflects high into the air. Danger cleared by the Buckie number 4.

Errol Douglas delivers a great ball through for Marcus Millar who miss kicks his shot wide. Jack MacIver shoots way over the bar for Buckie.

Big shouts for a penalty on 68 minutes, Lewis Turner’s cross seems to hit the hand of Buckie’s number 3 Darryl McHardy. But referee Soutar was having none of it and waved play on.

Lewis Turner finds Errol Douglas out wide right. He delivers a good ball in but no takers in Red and White.

Buckie’s Darryl McHardy is booked for time wasting while taking a throw in over next to the stand.

Shot by Max Berry is just wide of target for the visitors on 73 minutes. Slack play by Marky Munro. He gives away possession, gifting the ball away to Cohen Ramsay who plays in Josh Peters, the Buckie striker puts it wide of target.

GOAL! Broxburn take the lead. Marky Munro plays a great ball over for Errol Douglas. The big man is free at the back post and makes no mistake and scores low into the net.

Buckie push everything forward for an equaliser. And Broxburn nearly catch them on the break. Lewis Turner finds Errol Douglas who stays onside. His chip is just over the bar, and it remains 1-0 Broxburn.

Buckie hit the post, and Broxburn fly forward on the brake. 4 players are through with just the keeper to beat. Errol Douglas takes a bad touch and keeper Stuart Knight comes out and clears.

Broxburn are down to ten men for a short period as Greg Page comes off for medical treatment after a head collision with Lewis Mackinnon who also needs treatment. Broxburn brake break again. Callum Bremner is through but unfortunately slips.

Greg Page clears off the line as Buckie keep pushing for a late equaliser. Free kick by Lewis Mackinnon is way over the bar. Conor Thomson also sky’s skies a chance for Broxburn.

GOAL! Heartbreak for Broxburn as Buckie equalise in 97 minutes. Ball in finds Daryll McHardy who finds the bottom corner. Broxburn kick off and referee Soutar blows for full time.
