We travelled to Perth on Saturday for a huge game against third place Jeanfield Swifts in the East of Scotland Premier Division.
Jeanfield Swifts lie in third in the East of Scotland Premier Division. In their last fixture, they lost 2-1 away to Sauchie last Tuesday evening.
The last time the two clubs met, was on Tuesday the 5th of September 2023 at Albyn Park. Broxburn ran out 3-1 winners that day, with Callum Heath, Ross Nimmo and Greg Page getting on the scoresheet. The Jeanfield goal scorer that day was Dayle Robertson.
Broxburn make 7 changes from the side that were eliminated from Glenrothes 4-1 in the League Cup, on Tuesday night. In come Bob Watt, Lewis Turner, Nick Locke, Gary Brass, Errol Douglas, Marcus Miller, and Steven Anderson. They replace Shaun Donoghue, Greg Page, Callum Heath, Darren Downie, Ali Jones, Callum Bremner and Ben Davidson. Jeanfield Swifts are in black and white striped shirts, black shorts and socks and start with a 4-3-3 formation. Broxburn are in their traditional kits. Red and white shirts, white shorts and red and white socks. They start with a 4-4-2 formation.
A big Broxburn support has travelled up to Perth for what could be a huge day for Broxburn. As both teams emerge, there is a good atmosphere building.
Broxburn are first to threaten in the 4th minute. Ross Nimmo is in behind the Swifts backline from a long ball. Jeanfield defender Scott Mollison makes a great block to deny Nimmo.
GOAL! Jeanfield take the lead. A fantastic save by Bob Watt is pushed out too Christopher Dodd who scores.

On 8 minutes, Broxburn come forward through Marcus Miller. Miller delivers a good cross that finds Ross Nimmo, but his glancing header is wide of target.
In the early stages, Broxburn haven’t got going yet and Jeanfield Swifts are pressing well up the park which is causing Broxburn problems. Huge chance for a second for the Perth side on 18 minutes. Christopher Dodds corner finds Kieran Sweeney who heads over at the back post for Swifts.
Broxburn fly up the park a minute later, ball is fed through for Errol Douglas who is in on goal, his shot is saved by the Jeanfield keeper. First booking of the match comes on 21 minutes. Marky Munro is booked for fouling the Jeanfield number 10 Jordan Northcutt.
What a save by Bob Watt on 29 minutes. A superb cross from the right finds Scott Sutherland whose header is on target. Watt makes a great save to keep it at 1-0. Big talking point on 41 minutes. Gary Brass is fouled and the referee points to the penalty spot but changes his mind and calls it’s a free kick just outside the box. Locke’s effort from the free kick is blocked and on the rebound Turners effort is also blocked as Jeanfield get it away.
Next in the book is Jeanfield Swifts Gary Fergus for a late challenge on Lewis Turner on 41 minutes.
Conor Thomson comes close with a free kick on 42 minutes. His effort is just wide.
On 44 minutes, Ross Nimmo is booked for a challenge on Patrick Brown. Bit of pushing and shoving, but it’s all calmed down by referee Gamble.
HALF TIME (1-0 Jeanfield Swifts)
Broxburn push forward, Conor Thomson plays a great ball forward for Errol Douglas, the big man drags his effort wide of target.
Big shouts for a Broxburn handball on 56 minutes, but referee Gamble says play on. Marky Munro delivers a good cross for Conor Thomson whose header has no power and eventually goes wide.
Chance for Swifts on 57 minutes. Scott Sutherland’s is through, and his effort is saved by Bob Watt.

Talk around Riverside Park is Musselburgh are losing against Luncarty and if things stay the same, Broxburn will be champions regardless.
An Errol Douglas header from a Connor Thomson cross is just wide on 71 minutes. On 72 minutes, Callum Heath shot from a corner is just wide.
GOAL! Its 1 each! It’s an own goal from the Jeanfield defender from a Gary Brass ball in.

Now its 1-1 at the Musselburgh vs Luncarty game which would still be enough to crown Broxburn champions.
Ross Nimmo has a chance on 83 minutes, but his effort has no power and is easily collected by the Jeanfield keeper.
On the 84th minute we hear that Musselburgh have taken the lead and Broxburn must score to win the league today.
What a save by Bob Watt on 89 minutes. Lewis Turner misses the ball, letting in Jordan Northcott, but Watt makes another crucial save and Broxburn clear.
Broxburn push to win and have chances. A Brass shot is saved and a Downie header at the back post is cleared of the line.
But it’s a share of the points and now it goes to Wednesday night when Jeanfield Swifts take on Musselburgh Athletic at Riverside Park. A Swifts win or a draw, would confirm Broxburn as champions.

Broxburn Athletic vs Glenrothes
It was another midweek fixture for Broxburn Athletic on Tuesday night, this time in the East of Scotland League Cup 3rd round against Fife side Glenrothes at Albyn Park.
To reach this stage of the competition, both teams got a bye in round one. In round 2, Broxburn Athletic beat Leith Athletic 1-0 with an Errol Douglas goal separating the teams at Meadowbank. After the original game was postponed, Glenrothes eventually eliminated West Lothian side Harthill Royal at home, in round 2, with Lee Schiavone getting the vital goal.
The last time the two clubs met was on Saturday 16th of March at Warout Stadium, Glenrothes in league duty. Glenrothes won 3-2. Broxburn goal scorers that day were Lewis Turner & Marky Munro, while goal scorers for Glenrothes were Cargill and a McKenzie double.

In come Shaun Donoghue, Callum Heath, Ben Davidson, Connor Thomson, Callum Bremner, Ross Nimmo and Darren Downie. They replace Bob Watt, Steven Anderson, Lewis Turner, Gary Brass, Errol Douglas, Nick Locke and Bryan Mwangi. Broxburn are in their traditional kits. Broxburn are first to threaten a minute into the game. Callum Heath drives down the left and his cross finds Darren Downie. The stand in skipper puts his effort wide of target. In the 2nd minutes, Allasan Jones played a good ball through to Ross Nimmo whose shot is wide of target.
Glenrothes create their first chance in 9 minutes. Fionn McLeod-Kay has plenty of space down the right. His shot is just wide of the left-hand post. On 11 minutes, A long ball forward by Glenrothes keeper Riley Laing finds their number 4 Ali Ramzan at a tight angle. His shot is just wide of target. There are huge shouts of offside on 14 minutes as the Glenrothes number 10 Fionn McLeod Kay looks to be ahead of play from a long ball forward. He shoots just wide of target. McLeod Kay is through again on 27 minutes and this time looks onside. He plays a great ball across to Jordan McKenzie whose shot is well saved by Broxburn Athletic keeper Shaun Donoghue.
On 27 minutes, Ross Nimmo gets in behind the Glenrothes back line from a long ball. Glenrothes keeper Laing is on his toes and gets there before Nimmo and eventually clears. A minute later, Ross Nimmo is free wide right. His cross finds Callum Heath at full stretch at the back post but his effort hits the side netting.
GOAL! Glenrothes take the lead. Good 1-2 by McKenzie and Bridgeford on the build-up. Bridgeford makes no mistake and slots home for the opening goal.

GOAL! Glenrothes score a quick second. McLeod-Kay looks to be two yards offside, but the linesman keeps his flag down. His cross finds Jordan McKenzie who finishes well.

GOAL! Ross Nimmo plays in Darren Downie whose effort deflects into the back of the net. Broxburn hit back immediately.

Callum Heath delivers a great cross that hits the Glenrothes centre half Blair Smart. The Fife side eventually clear their lines. On 44 minutes, Greg Page has a shot that is over the bar from distance.
Last chance of the half comes for the visitors. Jay Bridgeford’s effort is just over the bar.
HALF TIME (2-1 Glenrothes)
Broxburn Start the second half with a bit more urgency. Ross Nimmo tests Glenrothes keeper Riley Laing with a shot with the first attack of the half. On 47 minutes, Greg Page plays a great cross ball that finds Ross Nimmo in an advanced position. Nimmo’s cross finds Callum Bremner in plenty space, centrally. His shot is blocked and on the rebound Darren Downie’s effort is blocked.
Glenrothes have a huge chance for a third goal on 50 minutes. Jay Bridgeford’s shot is well saved by Broxburn keeper Shaun Donoghue.
On 53 minutes, Broxburn fly forward down the left through Callum Heath. Heath’s cross finds Ben Davidson whose header is over the bar. A minute later , Ross Nimmo finds Callum Bremner free and his effort is saved down low by Glenrothes keeper Laing.
On 55 minutes, Broxburn have a huge chance to equalise. Allasan Jones’s effort from a tight angle hits the bar.
Broxburn keeper Donoghue makes another important save. This time from Glenrothes number 7 Reece Brown.

Broxburn have the ball in the net late on through Zander Miller, but it was ruled offside and referee Struthers instantly blew for full time. A bad night at the office tonight for Broxburn. But now its all about Saturday, where three points would clinch us the title.
