It was Scottish Cup weekend, as Broxburn travelled to East Ayrshire to take on Auchinleck Talbot in another tough away day in round two.
Auchinleck Talbot currently lie in ninth position in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division. They have won three, drawn three and lost one, in their seven league fixtures so far. The club is managed by club legend Tommy Sloan. Under Sloan’s guidance which started in 2003, the club have won five Junior Cups & five Super League Titles. Players to look out for are ex Irvine Meadow striker Connor Boyd, ex Bonnyton Thistle forward Kyle McAvoy & ex Ayr United midfielder Michael Wardrope. In the clubs last competitive fixture, Talbot defeated Perth based side Jeanfield Swifts at Beechwood Park in the South Challenge Cup. The home side were 3-0 victors with Connor Boyd, Aiden Wilson and Ewan Thomson getting on the score sheet. Last weekend they played Thorn Athletic in a friendly at Beechwood and won 7-1 against a team who impressed the week before against Broxburn. Scorers on the day were Kyle McAvoy who bagged a hat trick, Alex Nimmo who bagged a double. There were also goals from Andy Miller and Tarek Abed.
