Broxburn had the first chance with a good move on 9 minutes when Nico Gibson put the ball through to Conor Kelly and he cut it back to Scott Richards on the edge of the box but his shot went just over the bar . The opening goal came after 17 minutes when a good run by Nicholas Locke was passed out to Cameron Ross who’s shot was well saved  but as the ball broke out right CONOR KELLY picked it up and fired home from outside the box on the right hand side deceiving all to find the back of the net . A couple of minutes later a corner into the box saw Andrew Grant out jump all but his header went just over the bar . Half way through the half a free kick into the box was spilled by the keeper but his defence cleared for a corner before any Broxburn Attacker got near it . Locke saw a free kick from the left go narrowly past the right hand post a minute later .On 36 minutes Coldstream could have equalised when Matt Corfield headed wide of the right hand post . Broxburn doubled their lead on 40 minutes when GREG BINNIE received the ball 20 yards out and sent the ball past Turnbull into the back of the net . Corfield , a minute later again headed past the post with Wallace beaten . Broxburn went up the park with the bye kick and Scott Richards gathered the ball and went right before putting it on a plate for CONOR KELLY to shoot high into the net . With two minutes left Greg McCrudden  saw a shot saved by Wallace . in the last minute a free kick played into the Broxburn box was not defended and when the ball fell to KIERAN LEE he scored giving Wallace no chance and gave his side a life line back into the game .

At the start of the second half Coldstream started well and Craig Heugh saw a shot defended for a early corner . It was the visitors who added to the scoring on 49 minutes when Locke gathered the ball in the right hand side of the box and got to the bye line and fired across the six yard box where SCOTT RICHARDS was at the back post to score . Broxburn put the tie to bed on 62 minutes when Greg Binnie made a run into the box and the defender attempted to trip him but all though Binnie kept his feet the ball had run away and the referee gave the penalty and CONOR KELLY stepped up to score and complete his hat trick . Broxburn could have went further ahead on 71 minutes when Cameron Ross made a good run into the left hand side of the box but shot into the side netting with team mates free in the box maybe a better option . On 74 minutes Broxburn got their sixth when Richards sent JACK BEESLEY through and as Elliot Turnbull parried the original shot over his head Jack was first to the ball to force it into the net .With the game reaching the end Locke saw an effort go a begging . The last action of the game saw a corner into the hosts box where Andrew grant’s effort came off the bar . .

A good overall performance with the players coming in doing well . The strength of squad will be needed time and time again in the coming weeks and it was good to see them step up to the mark .

Two minutes later Sean Murphy  made room in the box but his shot was tipped round the right hand post by Wallace . Wallace again came to the hosts rescue on 8 minutes when Bert Miller forced a good save . Against the run of play Broxburn took the lead when a good move saw Andrew Gillen put a ball in from the right and found ALEXANDER MILLER who bulleted a header into the net on 18 minutes . Tranent hit the woodwork from a corner on 21 minutes and when it broke out to Shaun Hill his shot went wide of the target .  Tranent continued to push for a equaliser forcing corner after corner but they were dealt with by the Broxburn defence .

Straight from the kick off Craig Scott tried to catch the keeper out but he managed to stop the effort . Tranent equalised on 55 minutes when a free kick out on the left went past everybody and found the back of the net from ANDREW JONES . Level terms only lasted 3 minutes when a Scott Richards in from the left found the head of GORDON DONALDSON who steered the ball home . Three minutes later Broxburn could have increased their lead when a free kick in from the right saw Alexander Miller head wide .  On 64 minutes Scott Richards saw a good effort shave the cross bar as it went over . Half way through the half Tranent broke away and Bradley Barrett shot over the bar .With chances  being rare for the rest of the match in windy conditions it was the visitors who were the happier taking all three points from the match  against a title challenger .

Broxburn looked in the mood from the start and after two minutes it was Locke who made a good run down the left but his ball into the box was behind his attacking team mates . On five minutes Daryl Devlin saw an effort saved by Wallace . Locke again put a good ball in on 12 minutes from the right and the defence cleared just before Nico Gibson was about to head home . Craig Scott should have done better on 20 minutes when Locke set him up with a cut back but the midfielder’s shot was weak at the keeper . A minute later Whitehill attacked down the left and a cross into the box came of the bar before  Grant Gavin turned it behind for a corner . The corner swung in from the left into the middle of the box and GARY HAMILTON fired home from eight yards . Ross made a good run and shot on 24 minutes which was deflected for a corner . A minute later Locke put the ball out left to Gibson  but his shot went wide left . Broxburn were pressing for the equaliser and Locke again cut the ball across for Ross but his shot went wide left . Just after the half hour mark A corner in was met by the head of Grant Gavin but he was disappointed to see it go over the bar .Controversy on 37 minutes when the home defence were all over the place and good play by the visitors saw a cross ball cut out by Youssef Bejaoui with his hands but both officials failed to see the offence outside the box .

Nick Locke forced a good save in the first minute of the half . The visitors got on level terms a minute later  when NICHOLAS LOCKE went on a run down the left before shooting under the advancing keeper . Ross couldn’t capitalised on a good ball in from Locke on 55 minutes . Scott Richards put Conor Kelly through on 63 minutes but the strikers effort went over the bar . Whitehill spurned a chance on 65 minutes when Sommerville put a good ball on to the head of Scott Wright but the header went wide of the target . Greg Binnie saw a good ball in cleared from the danger area on 74 minutes with Whithill seeing a Ross Connell effort deflected for a corner at the other end two minutes later . Craig Scott saw a 30 yard free kick rocket of the post with a minute remaining .Broxburn almost shipped all three points when Grant Gavin was short with a pass back to Wallace but the big keeper managed to get there and steal the ball off Anthony Muir as he was about to strike .

A disappointing point with the chances created but could have gone the other way also so we move on .

St Mirren booked their place in the Fifth Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup with a deserved 3-0 win over Broxburn Athletic.

After a goalless first-half, Jon Obika opened the scoring in 54 minutes to finally make the breakthrough.

Two goals in the closing minutes from Danny Mullen and Obika put the seal on the win as Saints saw off the stubborn East of Scotland League side.

It took until the final few moments to wrap up the match, but it could have been a more comfortable afternoon had the Buddies opened the scoring with a chance inside the first 60 seconds. Calum Waters low ball across the box was laid on a plate for Obika who didn’t catch the shot well enough and clipped over the bar.

The Buddies asserted themselves in the opening stages and had the vast majority of possession and territory. Junior Morias curled into the arms of Broxburn goalkeeper Connor Wallace with eight minutes played, while Ilkay Durmus dragged an effort wide on 15 minutes.

Obika sent a tame effort into the arms of Wallace on 22 minutes after a neat exchange with Morias and really should have had Saints ahead three minutes later. Morias charged down the left-hand side and slide the ball across the area where both Obika and Durmus were waiting. The former got a toe onto the ball but it somehow creeped centimetres wide of the post. The English forward then headed past the same post just after the half-hour mark.

For all the dominance Saints were failing to make Broxburn goalkeeper Wallace work, but that would change after the interval with the goalkeeper making a good stop to deny captain Kyle Magennis on 50 minutes.

Durmus should have had St Mirren ahead two minutes later but somehow smashed wide from eight yards.

Thankfully, the wait for the breakthrough only lasted another two minutes with Obika opening the scoring on 54 minutes. It was a scrappy goal for Broxburn to lose with a low Waters effort coming off an unfortunate Broxburn defender and ricocheting off Obika into the net.

The Buddies fitness told after that and only heroics from Wallace kept the scoreline down. The goalkeeper made terrific saves to deny Morias twice, while he did well to push away a Mullen volley. Arguably the pick of the bunch came when he denied Jamie McGrath a debut goal on 79 minutes. The Irishman curled towards the far corner from the edge of the area with Wallace at full stretch to tip the ball round the post.

Wallace would make further saves in the final 10 minutes to stop Obika and Morias attempts, but Saints finally added a second to secure their place in tomorrow’s Fifth Round draw with Mullen curling home from 20 yards.

Mullen then turned provider a minute later when he slammed the ball across the ball to meet the chest of Obika to put the icing on the cake for the Buddies.

Conor Kelly met a cross from the left to the back of the 18 yard box where he blasted over the bar in acres of space . 81 minutes gone and Cameron Ross sent a good ball into the box to Locke who shot high and wide . With time running out and the visitors trying to take advantage of the extra man Ross Nimmo sent a great ball into the box that was blocked and cleared . Cameron Ross saw an effort deflected over the bar with five to go . Ross Nimmo saw a effort being tipped over the bar with two minutes later by the finger tips of Andrew Murphy . With no more chances it was the visitors who were dispointed by the solitary point from the league leaders while the hosts could not hide their delight at holding on for the share of the points  .

With the pitch just passing a inspection prior to kick off conditions were going to be difficult for both sides . Broxburn started well and got an opening on 3 minutes when a ball was put into the box from the right but the home defence cleared the danger . On five minutes Craig Scott set up Nicholas Locke who turned and shot just wide right  of the target . John Grant laid a ball off to Alexander Miller who shot wide left . Cameron ross shot wide left at the other end a minute later . Great football on sixteen minutes saw Cameron Ross with a chance that he put just over the bar . Half way through the half a free kick into the box was met by the head of Lewis McKenzie who should have done better than head wide left unchallenged . Craig Scott saw a powerfull effort parried by the keeper and cleared by his defence on 24 minutes . A well worked corner saw the ball get played out short to Ross who’s shot was turned round the post at full stretch by James Lennox in the Dundonald Goal . Broxburn should have gone 1 up on 38 minutes when a ball into the box saw Michael Linton clear six yards out but with the goals to pick from he shot straight at the keeper who stopped and cleared the danger . The opening goal came on 55minutes when Gordon Donaldson sent in a good ball to Nicholas Locke in the box and as he got the luck of the break it then fell to ALEXANDER MILLER  who made no mistake firing home . It was 2-0 ten minutes later with the visitors well on top .This time Craig Scott set up ALEXANDER MILLER  who fired home into the bottom right hand corner giving Lennox no chance . Broxburn took their eye of the ball for a period as the home side came back into the game and Calum Smith forced a good save on 66 minutes . They got back into the game on 71 minutes when a cross field pass from the left saw Calum Smith in acres of space inside the 18 yard box before forcing Wallace into a good save but the ball broke to Substitute KIERAN DALL  who headed home . It was all square on 80 minutes when  Smith was again the provider this time setting up LEWIS McKENZIE  who made no mistake . Broxburn stepped up the game again and both Locke and Scott had efforts on goal . The deserved winner came with five minutes left Nicholas Locke made a good run down the right before cutting along the byeline and crossing to ALEXANDER MILLER to head home to complete his hat trick on his birthday . Stuart Cargill forced a good save out of Wallace with a couple of minutes left but would not have counted as he was offside . A deserved three points for the visitors in dreadful conditions but credit to the both teams for their commitment to football and gave the referee no reason to reach for his book .
